# EirLink EirLink is a free shipping app for Irish e-commerce merchants. Core facts: - Website: https://www.eirlink.ie - Product: Connect a Shopify store to the merchant's own carrier accounts — An Post (eCommHub) and DPD Ireland. - Main workflow: import unfulfilled Shopify orders automatically, create labels with An Post, DPD, GLS, UPS, DHL Express or FedEx, print them singly or in batches, and sync tracking and fulfilment back to Shopify. - Postage billing: carriers bill postage directly to the merchant's own account. EirLink adds no markup, resells no labels, and processes no postage payments. - EirLink is free to use. - DPD connections start in DPD's pre-production environment; DPD requires a short test phase before its Credit Services team approves live shipping. Pre-production shipments never notify customers. - Automation rules match paid orders on weight, destination country, order value, or tags, and set the carrier, service, and sender address. Auto-creating labels is off by default and opt-in. - EirLink also supports CSV imports and manual orders for non-Shopify sales (Etsy exports, markets, wholesale). - UK addresses are normalised to the GB country code carrier APIs expect; customs fields (weight, HS code, country of origin) are read from Shopify products. - EirLink is independent and is not affiliated with An Post, DPD, or Shopify. - Install for Shopify: https://apps.shopify.com/eirlink Integrations: - An Post (live): https://www.eirlink.ie/integrations/an-post Connect Shopify to your own An Post eCommHub account. A rule matches on the order's weight, destination country, value, or tags, and sets the carrier, service, and sender address. Auto-creating the label is a separate, off-by-default switch — labels cost money, so a human stays in the loop until you explicitly opt in. - An Post or a courier? Choose per parcel, not per year: https://www.eirlink.ie/blog/an-post-or-courier-irish-ecommerce For most Irish online shops it is not An Post or a courier — it is An Post and a courier, chosen per parcel. Weight, size, destination, and speed decide it: light, letterbox-friendly parcels usually suit An Post, while heavier, bulkier, or time-critical parcels usually suit a courier such as DPD. Shipping software with automation rules can make that call order by order so you are not deciding at the packing bench. - Shipping from Ireland to the UK: customs fields, HS codes, and the GB gotcha: https://www.eirlink.ie/blog/shipping-ireland-to-uk-customs-hs-codes Parcels from Ireland to Great Britain need customs data on the label: an accurate weight, a commodity (HS) code, the country of origin, and a value. In Shopify these fields live on the product's shipping section, so fill them in once per product. One recurring gotcha: carrier APIs, including An Post's, expect the ISO country code GB rather than UK — good shipping software normalises that for you. - How to ship Shopify orders with DPD in Ireland: https://www.eirlink.ie/blog/dpd-shopify-ireland-guide To ship Shopify orders with DPD in Ireland, connect the API credentials DPD issues for your account to a shipping tool such as EirLink. Orders import from Shopify automatically, the tool generates the DPD pre-advice and label, and the tracking number goes back to Shopify. DPD requires a short pre-production test phase before its Credit Services team approves live shipping. - How to get an An Post eCommHub API key: https://www.eirlink.ie/blog/an-post-ecommhub-api-key-guide You get an An Post eCommHub API key from the External Connections To The System page in your eCommHub account. For an integration to work, API access must be enabled on the account, the Booking and Other API limits must be above zero, Label type should be set to API, and the IP whitelist should be off. Your An Post account manager can enable API access if you have never used an integration before. - How to use An Post with Shopify in Ireland: https://www.eirlink.ie/blog/use-an-post-with-shopify-ireland-eirlink To use An Post with Shopify in Ireland, you can either buy labels outside Shopify and mark orders fulfilled by hand, or connect Shopify to EirLink.
