The An Post integration for Shopify

Labels in seconds, through your own eCommHub account.

EirLink connects your Shopify store to your own An Post eCommHub account. Orders import automatically, An Post labels generate in seconds — one at a time, in batches, or from a CSV — and every tracking number flows back to Shopify and on to your customer.

There is no markup and no middleman account. Postage bills directly to your An Post account at the rates you have agreed with An Post. EirLink is the software layer that removes the copying and pasting.

What syncs, in both directions

  • New unfulfilled Shopify orders import automatically the moment they are placed, and EirLink backfills recent unfulfilled orders when you first connect, so you never start from an empty dashboard.
  • Labels generate through the An Post eCommHub API on your own account, ready to print one by one or in batches.
  • The tracking number is pushed to Shopify as soon as a label is created. The order is marked fulfilled and Shopify sends your customer their shipping-confirmation email with live tracking.
  • Tracking scans refresh from An Post roughly every 30 minutes, so the shipping dashboard stays honest after the parcel leaves your desk.

Details handled for you

  • UK addresses are normalised to the GB country code An Post's API expects — in the CSV parser, in order imports, and in the label payload.
  • Customs fields come straight from your Shopify products: weights, HS codes, and country of origin. HS codes are validated, with a safe fallback when a product has none.
  • If An Post accepts a parcel but returns no label, EirLink holds the shipment as Label pending and lets you regenerate it safely. It never re-posts blind, which is what duplicates parcels.
  • Your eCommHub API key is verified against the live An Post API with a side-effect-free call, then stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM).

What you need

An An Post eCommHub business account with API access enabled, and the API key from it. If you ship with An Post today, you likely already have the account — your An Post account manager can enable API access if it is not switched on yet.

Set it up in about ten minutes

  1. 1Create a free EirLink account. Sign up at www.eirlink.ie and verify your email.
  2. 2Paste your eCommHub API key. Copy the API key from External Connections To The System in eCommHub and paste it into EirLink Settings. EirLink verifies it against the live An Post API instantly.
  3. 3Add your sender address. The address printed on labels and used for returns.
  4. 4Connect your Shopify store. Approve the requested access — order and fulfilment permissions only. Recent unfulfilled orders import straight away.
  5. 5Create your first label. Pick an imported order, generate the An Post label, print it, and hand the parcel to An Post as normal.

Quick answers

Do I need my own An Post account?

Yes. EirLink connects to An Post eCommHub, the platform An Post provides for business senders, using your own API key. You keep your negotiated rates and your direct relationship with An Post.

Is there a markup on postage?

No. An Post bills postage directly to your own account at your own rates. EirLink does not resell labels, handle postage payments, or take a cut.

Does it handle international and UK orders?

Yes. Customs details — weights, HS codes, country of origin — are read from your Shopify products, and UK addresses are sent to An Post with the GB country code its API expects.

What if An Post rejects my API key?

It is nearly always the IP whitelist setting on the eCommHub account, and it takes a minute to fix. See the guide: fix a rejected An Post API key.

Can I ship orders that do not come from Shopify?

Yes. Import a CSV (marketplace exports, wholesale) or key orders in manually. They join the same queue and get the same labels and tracking updates.
